Some of you have been asking where the heck this course is going to be. So below is a quick explanation of this weekends CycloCross course at Maybury State Park (October 25th, 2009).

The course will encompass some open grassy areas, pavement, an old dirt service road, and some mild single track type trail.

We have the Maple and Oak shelters reserved for Sunday and will plan to use everything in between them, as well as everything the the south of them. Rest assured were working to make the course fun and challenging.

The first annual Lung Buster Cyclo Cross race is coming...Sunday October 25th

This race is # 2 in our small 2 race series. Our goal with these series is to educate and give new racers a chances to try out the cross races. We also wanted to provide some very unique courses and racing opportunities in the area.

With some help from our supporters and sponsors we have been able to create a low dough beginner friendly race venue. The first race was last weekend at Historic Ft, Wayne - Detroit, MI. Which was a huge success with over 100 racers testing their skills on one of the most unique courses in Michigan.

This weekend is race #2 at the grounds of the Old Maybury Satitorium:

The old Sanitarium was constructed on land purchased by the city of Detroit in 1919, in Northville Township. The 900 acres housed a large Tuberculosis sanatorium which treated patients until the 60’s when Tuberculosis became much less rampant and much more treatable with the use of penicillin. By the early 70’s the land had been purchased and then turned into a state park in 1975. Since then the park has become a great local escape for hikers, biker, fishermen, and equestrians.

So this leads us to our current race "The Lung Buster" In keeping with the history of the park and making use of it's unique landscape. Our course for this Saturday's CX will be tough and possible have one of the longest run ups in Michigan...IT will definatly leave you gasping for air.
